Police inspector disguises himself as driver, traps blackmailer

A police inspector disguised himself as a car driver and arrested a former photo journalist for blackmailing an astrologer.

The suspect Saikumar (38), is a resident of Kadirenahalli. He was a photo journalist with a magazine. He had quit his job and had started a photo studio recently.

He repeatedly blackmailed the astrologer Anand Guruji by claiming that he had a CD showing Guruji’s “illegal” activities.  The latter had lodged a complaint with the police.

According to the plan, the astrologer asked the suspect to meet him at Chennammanakere Achkat. Basavanagudi inspector S B Shashidhar disguised himself as the astrologer’s car driver.

Saikumar reached the spot where the astrologer paid him Rs 50,000. Soon the inspector caught the suspect. The astrologer told the police that Saikumar and his friends had demanded Rs 1 crore, but later scaled down the demand to Rs 10 lakh.
