<p>Bengaluru: Registered Post services have been down at <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/post-office">post offices </a>across Bengaluru since August 4. </p><p>The outage is due to a “Pan India server issue”, a Bengaluru based GPO official told DH. However, the GPO has no clarity when the service will be reinstated.</p>.India Post to say goodbye to registered post, merge service with speed post.<p>“Unfortunately, we’ve been turning away customers walking in for the service. We haven’t received any intimation about when the service will be back. But we’re hoping it should be back soon,” added the official. </p><p>In the interest of security, registered posts are specific to the addressee and are only delivered to the intended recipient. Hence, it is also known as a secure post. </p>.<p>While the popularity of the service has been on a steady decline for the past few years, registered posts are still preferred to deliver important documents such as legal notices and government correspondence. </p><p>As per an internal circular issued by India Post, starting September 1, registered post will be merged with speed post. This will put an end to one of India Post’s oldest services</p>
