Shivamogga techies recount horrid experience

For two working professionals from Shivamogga, thier escape form flood-ravaged Chennai and the reunion with their families will ever remain etched in their memories for long.

 “It was an escape from death,” said Neha Christina, an employee at TCS in Chennai.
She told Deccan Herald, “I consider myself lucky for having returned to my home safely. The situation worsened after rains intensified on Tuesday. The situation turned grave on Wednesday following the unrelenting showers,” said the woman who completed her BE from JNNCE, Shivamogga, last year. 

She said the roads leading to Thuraipakkam, where her office is located, were inundated.  
“Initially, I went to the office braving all the odds. The situation in other areas of the city was worse than Karapakkam where I was living in a PG accommodation . I could not talk to my family members over the phone since Tuesday (Dec 1) noon owing to network problem.

There was no power. I managed to board a bus and reach Bengaluru safely,” Neha recalled.   Rajesh from Ujjanipura, Bhadravathi, said he is employed at Shriram Value Services, Mylapore in Chennai.

The last time he spoke to his family members was Tuesday (Dec 1) night. “After that I could not contact them. They were also worried about my safety. Around 30 to 40 people from Karnataka are working in the Chennai office. I could not get a bus to Bengaluru. So, I came to Hosur first and then to Bengaluru with some of my colleagues. I will go back to Chennai after the situation returns to normalcy,” he said.
