Last Updated 03 July 2017, 19:58 IST

The work on RV Road-Bommasandra line of Namma Metro Phase 2 will begin soon as a joint venture (JV) has bagged a Rs 797.29-crore contract to build five stations between RV Road and Silk Board.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited awarded the contract for building 6.340-km long elevated corridor with five stations to Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC), a lead partner in the joint venture with URC Construction Private Limited.

The contract comes with a deadline of 36 months. The five stations on this section are Central Silk Board, BTM Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda and RV Road.

The contract also includes the construction of road-cum-rail flyover, road-widening and allied works in the Silk Board section, which is part of the RV Road-Bommasandra line. Silk Board will become a major hub with Phase 2A of the metro project which connects it to KR Puram in the east.  The line includes a ramp running in parallel to the Green Line for reversal of the train through change of track. The Bommasandra line will make RV Road, an interchange metro station.

President and CEO of the JV, Arun Karambelkar, said the company will finish the project well on time. “Our expertise in Metro construction has been instrumental in HCC bagging this prestigious contract.

“We are confident of completing the project well on time as we plan to go on with our task in a systematic and efficient manner. Once completed, this project will benefit thousands of Bengaluru residents.”
