BJP brings Waqf board row into udder chopping incident; asks govt to nab ‘real’ culprits

Bengaluru: Continuing its attack on the Congress over the ‘cow udder chopping incident,’ the BJP and its leaders on Monday accused the government of being hand in glove with the Waqf Board to encroach prime property worth Rs 500 crore in Chamarajapet by fabricating documents, so that the minority welfare department can build a school there.

Leaders of the Opposition in both Houses R Ashoka and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy along with former IPS officer Bhaskar Rao led the charge against the Congress separately in the city. 

They argued that the cow udder chopping incident was directly linked to Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan’s ambitious plans to build a school for minorities by taking over land belonging to the veterinary hospital that was built on land belonging to a Hindu philanthropist more than a century ago during the time of the British. 

Ashoka said though the police had arrested a person in connection with the incident, the reality is that the government was not making sincere efforts to unearth the real truth and put the real culprits behind bars.

“The government is trying to take away the veterinary hospital land that is estimated to be worth around Rs 500 crore. The government is itself hand in glove with the Waqf Board to take away this prime land. Karna, the owner of three cows whose udders were chopped off, was part of the Hindu group which fought against the government’s motives,” he said.

The state BJP, in its post on ‘X’, wrote that days before Sankranti and Gau Pooja, ‘jihadis’ had once again revealed their true intent. 

“It’s about hurting religious sentiments. Cows owned by a farmer were brutally mutilated by individuals with a jihadi mindset, simply because the farmer, along with his cow, had participated in a protest against Waqf jihad,” the post said. 

The BJP alleged that Hindus could not even engage in peaceful and lawful protests.

“Instead, what seems to be encouraged is shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ or attacking those who recite Hanuman Chalisa. This is Jihad!,” the BJP said. 

Narayanaswamy demanded that the government must take steps to nab the ‘real culprits’ behind this incident, instead of arresting just a single person. 

Retired IPS officer and BJP leader Bhaskar Rao said Hindu philanthropist Sajjan Rao had donated this land to build a veterinary hospital about a century ago. 

This incident was the result of the Waqf Board setting its eyes on a prime land.

“Zameer Ahmed Khan is trying to instigate Muslims and spreading fear in this area, so that Hindus who are in a minority can be chased away,” he charged.

He said the police were under tremendous pressure to close the case. Therefore, the police have arrested a person from Bihar.
