H D Kumaraswamy, on Wednesday, offered special poojas to the goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru, before taking oath as the chief minister.

Meanwhile, state BJP leaders protested against what they called an 'unholy' alliance of the JD(S) and the Congress in the state.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu, NCP leader Sharad Pawar and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav arrived in Bengaluru to take part in the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at 4.30 pm on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha.

The formation of JD(S)-led coalition government in Karnataka comes at a time when a non-BJP alliance is taking shape to take on the saffron party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Mamata Banerjee and Naidu stressed the need for unity among regional parties.
