<p>Dharwad: District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad charged that the BJP has brought the Waqf issue to fore to divert attention from issues like China occupying land up to a stretch of 175 km and 600 villages of India.</p><p>He told reporters here on Monday that the BJP government violated Article 26 of the Constitution while bringing amendment to the Waqf act, and confusion was created among people.</p><p>“Modi is responsible for price rise in the country, and I am ready for a debate with the BJP leaders on this issue,” Lad added.</p><p><strong>Joshi reacts</strong></p><p>Meanwhile, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi reacted that not a single inch of land of the country is given to China.</p><p>He also said the amendment to the Waqf Act would help poor Muslims, as a process has been set to purchase land. “Waqf properties increased from 18 lakh acres of land to 39 lakh acres now. But the revenue is Rs 168 crore. If the revenue is collected properly, it will reach up to Rs 12,000 crore. Proper management and revenue collection from the Waqf Board is the purpose of the amendment,” he noted.</p><p>Ministry of Commerce is studying the new policy by Trump administration in USA, and serious thinking is on to ensure convenience for Indian industries, Joshi added.</p>
