Speaking at a programme organised at Doddahasala village in the taluk to distribute cards to the entitled families, Revanna said: “Thumb impressions of five members of the family and their photographs will be stored in the chip of the health card. With the card, one can avail free treatment and medical expenses upto Rs 30,000 in any of the government hospitals in the country.”
In a month’s time the health smart cards will be distributed to 36,000 BPL families in the taluk. In four months, the cards will be distributed to as many as 1.26 lakh beneficiaries in the district. Moreover, those unable to secure the health smart cards owing to various reasons can get the smart cards at the deputy commissioner’s office throughout the year, said Revanna. Grama Panchayat president Chennakeshava inaugurated the distribution of smart health cards.
