BSY moves HC over ACB proceedings against him

Last Updated 19 August 2017, 20:14 IST

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has moved the High Court of Karnataka seeking quashing of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) proceedings against him in a land dentofication case.

Two FIRs were filed against the former chief minister in the case of ‘fake-denotification’ of 257 acres and 20 guntas of land of which, 3.6 acres of land was kept to form Shivaram Karanth Layout in North
Bengaluru.

Justice Aravind Kumar said he will hear the matter when it is listed in the normal course.

Dr Aiyappa, in his complaint to the ACB, stated that Yeddyurappa had denotified 257 acres of land from the preliminary notification of 3,546 acres meant for the layout, bypassing the denotified committee’s approval when he was the chief minister.

Yeddyurappa dropped the vast extent of land from preliminary notification allowing various bulk landowners to change land use.

The preliminary notification of the 3,546 acres to form Shivaram Karanth Layout was quashed by the high court in September 2015 as the BDA did not implement the plan.

Yeddurappa, in his petition, contended that when the entire land acquisition was quashed, there is no question of any denotification of land that can still come to use.
