<p>New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) under the civil and defence sector across the country, including three in Karnataka.</p>.<p>The three new KVs in the state will be coming up at Mudnal village of Yadgir district, another in Kunchiganal village in Chitradurga, and a third in Elargi village in Raichur. The approvals also include the expansion of an existing school in Shivamogga. Two additional sections have been added in all the classes.</p>.<p>The government said that the move comes with an investment of approximately Rs 5,872.08 crore spread over a period of eight years from 2025-26. “This includes a capital expenditure component of Rs. 2862.71 crore (approximately) and operational expenditure of Rs 3,009.37 crore (approximately),” the government said in a release. </p>.<p>The ministry of education said that this will create space for over 960 students per school, leading to learning opportunities for over 82,560 students. </p>.Madurai schools including a Kendriya Vidyalaya receive bomb threat on email, students sent back home .<p>“… A full-fledged Kendriya Vidyalaya provides employment to 63 persons and accordingly, approval of 85 new KVs and the expansion of one existing nearby KV, which will add 33 new posts - will create a total of 5,388 direct permanent employment opportunities, the press release said.</p>.<p>The Cabinet also approved the setting up of 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) in the uncovered districts of the country under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme (Central Sector Scheme), including one in Ballari. </p><p>This will lead to an expenditure of Rs 2,359.82 crore spread over a period of five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29. And since each school presents learning opportunities for 560 students, in all, this will benefit 15,860 students. </p><p>Additionally, each NV provides employment to 47 persons and thereby, this move will provide direct employment to 1,316 people.</p>
