The Centre has earmarked Rs 122 crore for setting up ESI dispensaries and diagnostic centres at Nanjangud in Mysore district, and Davangere.

It has proposed to set up two more ESIC hospitals in Doddaballapur and Bommasandra near Bangalore, according to Kodikunnil Suresh, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

Laying the foundation stone for an ESI dispensary-cum-diagnostic centre here, he said the centre had been planned to provide medical aid to labourers attached to the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). This will allow 32 lakh workers across the State to access facilities at the ESI centres, he added.

Stating that the centre had been delayed due to unforseen reasons, he expressed confidence that it would be completed soon.

The ESIC has set up sub-regional offices in Hubli, Bangalore South, Bangalore North, Mysore, Gulbarga. The office in Mangalore will be opened on Thursday.
