The Kadur police arrested two men on the charges of cheating people by taking their ATM cards on the pretext of helping them in withdrawing cash and then later withdrawing cash for themselves.

The arrested are Vijay Kumar and Praveen Kumar, of Belenahalli Tandya. When the police were on their rounds on Saturday night, they stopped a black coloured car travelling towards Birur and noticed that the car had the same registration number as that of a missing car that was registered in Kadur.

Suspecting something fishy, the police arrested the two men who were in the car. During their interrogation, the men revealed that they were engaged in taking away ATM cards of people on the pretext of helping them and later handing them a duplicate ATM card.

The arrested men have already cheated two men in Shivamogga and another youth in Kadur. The police seized Rs 1.10 lakh in cash, a car and a two-wheeler from the arrested.
