'Cleansing of politics must start at PMO'

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court judgment on cleansing politics, but said that the initiative should first begin from the Prime Minister’s office.

He said the court wants politics to be free of criminals and black money. It has asked the PM and the Chief Ministers to keep the tainted leaders away. Steps have to be taken to ensure that those facing serious criminal charges should not contest elections.
