CM defends his call for revolt against BJP

Last Updated 28 September 2018, 08:22 IST

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday defended his call for people to revolt against the BJP saying that the party was indulged in destabilising the government through its Operation Lotus and that the remark was not undemocratic.

Kumaraswamy was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Sharada Mutt in Sringeri.

“I have not spoken anything against the democracy. Yeddyurappa keeps speaking on setting fire to the state. The BJP leaders had submitted a complaint to the Governor against me. If the Raj Bhavan seeks an explanation, then I will reply to it,” he said.

The chief minister, accompanied by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, his mother Chennamma, wife Anitha Kumaraswamy, PWD Minister H D Revanna, offered Saraswathi pooja to Goddess Sharadambe. Later, they took part in Ganahoma, “Ayushya homa,” “Navagraha homa,” “Prtikriyahooloni yaga” at the temple.

They also offered special pooja at Durgamba, Kalikamba and Malahaikareshwara temples. The chief minister vented his displeasure on media for writing about his temple tour. “The media has failed to publicise on waiving farm loans. I had visited temples when I was not in power. By giving unwanted publicity to my temple visit, the mediapersons are irritating me.”

“There is a drought-like situation in the state. I have prayed for the welfare of all. Power is not permanent in a democratic setup. I am not stuck to CM’s chair. I want to work for the betterment of the people when in power,” he added.

“The suicide of a farmer in Mandya had saddened me. The state government had issued an order for waiving off the loans availed from cooperative societies along with nationalised banks.”

“There is no shortage of funds for waiving off the loans. The farmers should not lose patience. The government will waive the loans borrowed by farmers,” the chief minister said.
