<p>Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday instructed garment and textile manufacturers to ensure workers are provided with facilities and safety, while assuring them “all due support” from the state government.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A delegation of garment and textile manufacturers called on Kumaraswamy at his home office ‘Krishna’ to discuss various issues faced by the industry. Kumaraswamy pointed out that thousands of people, majority of them women, depend on the garment sector, especially in and around Bengaluru.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumaraswamy directed the manufacturers to ensure welfare of the workers and that adequate security should be provided to those who work night shifts, according to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office. The chief minister also urged manufacturers to ensure the workers are paid wages on time and directly into their bank accounts.</p>
