Contribute to society, says writer Nagesh Kaluru

Two Kodava books were released during a programme organised by Kodava Makkada Koota, at Patrika Bhavan in Madikeri, on Tuesday.

‘Nada Peda Asha’, the 18th book by writer Nagesh Kaluru, and fifth work ‘Bicycle’ of actor and director Kottukattira Prakash Cariappa were released.

Speaking on the occasion, writer Nagesh Kaluru said that human being’s life should not be confined to himself. Instead, one should serve the society as well. This is the essence of the novel ‘Nada Peda Asha’.

It speaks about a woman from an agricultural family, who works as an anganwadi worker, he said.

Cauvery, the wife of a soldier carves a niche for herself and with her selfless services, becomes popular as ‘Asha’. The novel portrays the rural life in the backdrop of Kodava culture, Nagesh Kaluru added.

Filmmaker Kottukattira Prakash Cariappa said that the life of the children from a poor family has been portrayed in the book ‘Bicycle’.

The book speaks about the hardships of rag-picking children who toil hard to collect money to purchase a bicycle, he added.

Daffodils International School proprietor Aichettira Chinnappa opined that the writers need encouragement from society.

He lauded Kodava Makkada Koota for publishing 48 books till date.

Kodava Makkada Koota president Bollajira B Ayyappa said that the Koota has worked towards bringing the unsung heroes in the literary world, to the limelight. Books on army, sports and on achievers in various fields, have been published by Kodava Makkada Koota.

Many of the books have won Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy awards. These books are good sources for those who study literature, he added.

Social worker Nandineravanda Pravin Palangappa and Padeyanda Deepak Devaiah were present.
