Thus, a tahsildar can hoist the flag during the Independence Day celebration in KGF. <br /><br />Traditionally, however, an officer of IPS-cadre hoists the national flag. Based on a suggestion by MLA Sampangi, it was decided that Superintendent of Police would hoist the flag at the Independence Day celebration in KGF while the tahsildar would hoist the flag at a celebration in Bangarpet.<br /><br />The officials also took a decision to invite presidents of Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and Grama Panchayat, considering the size of KGF Assembly constituency.<br /><br />Sampangi announced a compensation of Rs 5,000 to the six martyrs of Army, para military and police department.<br /><br />He also suggested to hold the cultural programme on Independence Day in the evening to save the children from scorching heat. <br /><br />Various folk troupes from across the State will be invited to perform during the celebrations. Hence, national festivals should be given due respect by celebrating it in a meaningful way, he added.
