Corporator R Ravindra Kumar has filed an application before the Karnataka High Court to stay the Mayor's elections for Mysuru.

Ravindra, an Independent, has questioned the reservation pattern for the posts of Mayor and deputy Mayor.

The election is scheduled for January 24.

The state government has reserved the posts to Scheduled Castes (woman) and Scheduled Tribes (woman), respectively. According to the Corporator, the rotation system has been violated in reservation.

According to him, the posts were reserved for SC and ST, respectively during the previous Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Council.

Now, again, before completing six years, the government has reserved the post for the same category.
