<p>Three days after the elections were held for 65 wards under Mysore City Corporation (MCC), it’s time to know the might of 433 candidates in the fray, with counting of votes scheduled to be held on March 11.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Briefing media on Sunday about preparations in place for the counting, deputy commissioner Ramegowda said the counting of votes, stored in electronic voting machines (EVMs), will be taken up at three different venues in the city from 8 am. <br /><br />From ward one to 19 and 21, counting will be held at JSS Pharmacy College, Bannimantap, Mysore-Bangalore road, ward 20, 22 to 40 at Maharani’s Arts and Science College on JLB road and ward 41 to 65 at JSS College for Arts, Science and Commerce on Mysore-Nanjangud road.<br /><br />Elaborating on the staff involved, the deputy commissioner said a supervisor and an assistant will be deployed for the process for each table. One nodal officer each has been entrusted for three counting centres, besides one returning officer for every five wards and 50 polling booths. Five tables will be allotted for one ward each.<br /><br />Counting will begin ward wise and it’s only after completing the counting of votes of one ward, another ward will be taken up. The process (for every ward) is expected to be complete in a maximum of five rounds. The whole process is expected to be complete by 12.45 pm. <br /><br />To facilitate the process without any glitches, the counting staff have been given training, the deputy commissioner added.<br /><br />Explaining security measures in place, police commissioner K L Sudheer said 300 policemen will be deployed around the centres, besides four commando forces, eight platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) force, 14 City Armed Reserve (CAR) police units, 30 mounted police wings and 250 home guards. Security will be beefed up at sensitive areas in the city. Prohibitory orders have been clamped around the counting centres, according Cr PC section 144.<br /><br />Additional deputy commissioner Naga Nayak, DCP (law and order) Basavaraj Malagaththi and others were present.<br /><br />Other ULBs<br /><br />For the elections held to 139 wards in seven local bodies in the district (barring MCC), counting will be taken up at their respective taluk headquarters. For Nanjangud town municipal council, counting will be held at Government Boys PU College in the town; followed by Bannur TMC and T Narsipur town panchayat at Vidyodaya First Grade College, T Narsipur; Hunsur TMC at St Joseph’s School, Hunsur; and K R Nagar TMC at St Joseph’s Convent, Mysore road, K R Nagar; Periyapatna town panchayat at Pushpa PU College, Periyapatna; and H D Kote town panchayat at St Mary’s PU College, H D Kote. It may take maximum of two rounds for counting votes of each wards. Nodal officers have been appointed for every centre, said deputy commissioner Ramegowda.<br /></p>
