<p>Residents of the villages coming under Harekala, Pajeer and Pavoor gram panchayats depend on few buses that connect Harekala-Pavoor from Mangalore city. <br /><br />Commuting these few buses is difficult during peak hours because it is always crowded. While men and boys are often seen standing on the foot board or hanging behind the bus, women have no option but to travel in the overcrowded buses standing all their way.<br /><br />Since people stand on the footboard, hang behind the bus and even sit on the top of the bus, many mishaps have already occurred but the authorities are yet to wake up from their deep slumber and introduce few more buses on the route. A passenger had broken his leg after he had a fatal fall from the moving bus while hanging on the foot board on <br />Assaigoli-Pavoor route recently. <br /><br />There are several colleges and private institutions on this route. However, owing to the crowded buses, many people prefer to walk for several kilometers or hire private vehicles to reach their destination. Only few buses ply to Inoli Gaadi Gadde, Devandapadpu, Aksharanagara, Pajeer church road. The buses also cut their trips during public holidays, causing inconvenience to the passengers. </p>.<p>“The conductors push us inside the bus, even when there is no place. They scold the children for carrying their school bags. The women and children find it very difficult to travel,” said a student adding that they have been demanding for the introduction of government buses on the route. However, the authorities have not shown any interest so far.<br /><br />One bus<br /></p>.<p>Only one bus plies between Mangalore-Mudipu via Pajeer Panela route. <br />However, the bus service has been stopped after the bus fell into a ditch at Pajeer Panela recently. <br /><br />This is causing lot of inconvenience to the passengers, forcing the school kids to walk for 10 km to reach their school. <br /><br /></p>
