The members of Badanaguppe-Kellamballi Horata Samiti staged a protest blocking the Chamarajanagar-Mysuru Road here on Wednesday alleging that Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) is adopting delaying tactics in distributing compensation to the farmers whose lands have been acquired for Badanakuppe-Kellamballi Industrial Area in the taluk.

The farmers raised slogans against the State government and the district administration and stalled various development works in progress midway.

They charged that the KIADB has been biased in distributing compensation to the farmers. The repair works on Survey Numbers 118, 119, 513 and 514 have been delayed due to the negligence of the Revenue Department officials, they complained.

Fake documents
They alleged that some people have produced fake documents for compensation due to the intervention of the middlemen. The officials concerned should immediately inspect the spot and ensure justice to the farmers, they demanded.

The protesters were adamant and insisted that the will not allow the works to continue till the compensation is settled.

Tahsildar Purandara visited the spot immediately with Village Accountant Krishnamurthy and others and held talks with the protesting farmers. He assured them that he will bring the issue to the notice of the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner.

The farmers withdrew their protest after Assistant Commissioner Kavitha Rajaram spoke to them over phone and promised that she will visit the spot on Thursday.
