The district administration has issued a clarification in public interest saying that incessant rains in Kodagu last year had nothing to do with any volcanic eruptions.

Also, the rains last week in Kodagu were pre-monsoon showers, with normal thunder and lightning. It is not an after-effect of any volcanic activity, a release by the district administration confirmed.

State Natural Disaster Management Centre director has clarified that there is no warning on floods in any region of the state. The state Meteorological Department has been observing the weather changes at gram panchayat levels. If there will be any kind of fluctuations in the weather, necessary warnings will be issued in advance.

People should not get carried away by unconfirmed reports or statements circulated by unauthorised persons, stated Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy.
