'Encourage simple marriages'

He was speaking after participating in the mass marriage ceremony in the town. The ceremony was organised by Mahaganapathi Mithra Mandali of Lakshmipura cross in th taluk.
Marriage turns out to be a nightmare for many parents of the bride due to the heavy cost involved in conducting marriage. Hence there is a need to encourage simple marriages than expensive ones and conducting mass marriages is also a good initiative in this regard, he added.

Zilla Panchayat member R Narayanaswamy after distributing the mangalsuthras appreciated the works of Ganapathi Mithra Mandali. He said that the Mandali has been organising mass marriages every year which is a very good trend and stands as a model, he said. He also lauded the efforts of M G Srinivas in this regard.

55 couples
As many as 55 couples tied the knot in the ceremony. Former gram panchayat president Raman Reddy, leaders T V Narayanawamy, Goravamakalahalli Srinivas, Kopporapalli Venkataravana, Gowdathathanagadda Venkataravana, G M Muniyappa, Venkatarama Reddy, Venkataswamy, Narasimha and others were also present.
