Ex-judge accused of domestic violence

A former judge of fourth JMFC Court in Udupi has been accused of domestic violence and forcing abortion by his wife.

Varalakshmi in her complaint lodged with Udupi Women’s Police Station here, on Monday, said she was married to Ashok Thimmaiah in 2012 in Kunigal.

She said during her stay with Ashok in Bengaluru, she was harassed for dowry by her in-laws.

Varalakshmi also alleged that her in-laws had issued death threat and had threatened to burn her alive by pouring kerosene on her.

The couple have one child. She accused Ashok of selling all the ornaments, given by her parents as dowry during the marriage. In June-July, 2018, when Varalakshmi was pregnant with the second child, she was forced to abort the child by Ashok.

Based on the complaint of Varalaskhmi, a case was registered against Ashok under Sections 498 (A), 324, 504, 506, 313 read with 149 respectively of IPC.
