The lack of rain and shortage of labourers did not pose a hurdle for him in achieving success.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He constructed a farm pond to store rainwater and set up two polyhouses on 20 guntas of land.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He cultivates capsicum, beans, and cucumber inside the polyhouses. He has harvested 40 quintals of beans and 800 packets of cucumber (30 kg per packet).</p>.<p class="bodytext">He could fetch Rs 1200 per quintals of beans and Rs 450 to 500 per packet of cucumber. The merchants come to the spot to purchase the farm produce. </p>.<p class="bodytext">“I cultivate two varieties of vegetables once in three months,” he says. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The rainwater from the polyhouses enters the farm pond and the water stored in the pond is used for watering the plants.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also cultivates 100 coconut and 400 arecanut trees on his farmland. The water stored in the farm pond is also used for irrigating coconut and arecanut trees.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Along with traditional methods of farming, one needs to have knowledge of the latest technology in farming to excel in agriculture, said Parameshwarappa.</p>
