Field Marshal Cariappa Jayanti on Jan 28

The 119th birth anniversary of Field Marshal K M Cariappa will be observed on January 28 and a National Song competition will be conducted for school and college students, said Zilla Panchayat member C K Bopanna.

Addressing reporters here, he said that a procession will be taken out from bus stand to General Thimmaiah Memorial at 9.30 am. Ex-servicemen and students will take part in the procession.

Various competitions will be conducted for the students from 10 am, in junior (till seventh standard), senior (from eighth to tenth standard) and college (first PU to degree) categories and students taking part in the events should come in their school uniforms, said C K Bopanna.

Kodandera family head Subbaiah, anniversary celebrations conveners Kabbacchira Subramani and Maneyapanda Somanna were present.
