Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday stated that he had taken up the KPSC issue to fight the “illegal action” of the State government and rubbished charges that there were caste overtones in his lending support to the aggrieved candidates.

Responding to 13 questions posed by former minister and Congress leader H Vishwanath, Kumaraswamy said the government had no powers to reject the KPSC selection list to the post of Group A and B gazetted probationers notified in 2011.

To a poser by Vishwanath that the Deve Gowda family has been holding control over the KPSC for the last 20 years, Kumaraswamy said it was during Congress regimes that members and chairpersons of the KPSC had been appointed.
