<p>Former Chief Minister S M Krishna was cremated with state honours, at his native Somanahalli, Maddur taluk, Mandya district, on Wednesday evening.</p><p>S M Krishna passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, due to prolonged illness, at his residence, in Bengaluru. </p><p>The mortal remains of the departed leader were brought from Bengaluru to Somanahalli via road.</p> .S M Krishna's special relationship with Kudumallige.<p>Hundreds of people stood enroute to pay their respects. The vehicle was briefly halted at Kengeri, Ramanagar, Channapatna and other places for a few minutes, due to the demand of the people.</p><p>Mandya district administration made all arrangements for the last rites to be conducted on the premises of Coffee Day, the land that belongs to Krishna's family. A team of priests, led by Bhanuprakash Sharma conducted the rituals. </p> .<p>Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, DCM D K Shivakumar, Home Minister Parameshwara, Ministers Lakshmi Hebbalkar, N Chaluvarayaswamy, K Venkatesh, H C Mahadevappa paid last respects by placing the wreath.</p><p>BJP leaders Pralhad Joshi, Basavaraj Bommai, Ashoka, C T Ravi, Sudhakar, JD(S) leaders H D Kumaraswamy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, former MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, local MLAs, dignitaries,officials also paid their last respects.</p> .<p>Krishna's grandson and D K Shivakumar's son in law Amartya conducted the last rites and lit the funeral pyre. Around 1,000 kg of sandalwood logs were also used for the pyre.</p><p>Police had tightened the security on the premises. The state government has declared three-day mourning and holiday for schools and colleges on Tuesday.</p>
