German woman emerges winner in Dasara Cyclothon

Lena Robra of Germany and N Lokesh emerged winners in women and men category respectively, in the cyclothon, organised as part of Dasara here on Wednesday. While Robra rode 64 km, Lokesh peddled 115 km.

Interestingly, last time, both had bagged the second place. Robra, who is based in Bengaluru, has been participating in Dasara Cyclothon since a few years.

The cyclothon, inaugurated by Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar, commenced at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium and concluded at Devikere near Chamundi Hill here. While Lokesh covered 115 km in 2 hours and 31 minutes, Robra cycled for 2 hours and four minutes to cover 64 km. The winners were given Rs 30,000 cash each.

Additional Deputy Commissioner T Yogeesh and Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channannavar rode the bicycle for a distance. As many as 30 Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) personnel took part in the event.

As the rain lashed the city, there was lesser response for the events. At the JK Grounds, the venue of Women and Children Dasara, girls of some rehabilitation centres performed dance.

Kushi performed Yoga dance. She performed 20 asanas. Similarly, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame Srikar enthralled the audience by singing a song.

Amidst rain, youths enjoyed the performances at Yuva Dasara at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Members of Redbull Tour Bus and Bollywood singer Siddharth Mahadevan enthralled the youth. However, the crowd was less compared to previous days.

Kavighosti concludes

The poets’ meet, organised as part of Dasara at Jaganmohan Palace here concluded on Wednesday. In the meet, as many as 35 poets from parts of the state participated and presented views about women empowerment, farmers suicide, murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh and other issues.
