Giving aadhaar number to gas agency; you have time till Feb 28

Dist admn extends date from earlier Feb 15 to another 13 days

 In what could be a reprieve to LPG customers who have been asked to furnish their aadhaar card numbers to the respective agencies to avail subsidy under direct cash transfer (DCT), the district administration has extended the deadline from existing February 15 to 28. In case of not getting cards, even after enrollment, you can avail e-Aadhaar card from the website.

Announcing this to media at his office on Friday, deputy commissioner Ramegowda said the deadline has been extended for the benefit of customers. In an attempt to clear the confusion surrounding the scheme, the deputy commissioner allayed fears among the LPG customers about not getting subsidy benefit in case of any delay in providing aadhaar number. Instead, the customers have to furnish the number to both agencies and banks to facilitate the smooth going of the process. Already, 50 per cent of the total 5 lakh LPG customers have furnished their aadhaar numbers.

The deputy commissioner said, according to population census of 2011, Mysore district has a population of 29,95,879. Of them, 28,84,675 have enrolled for the cards accounting for 96.28 pc success rate. Among the enrolled, 25 lakh have got the cards.

Owing to gradual enrollment of the people, from 160 centres in the initial days to 25 centres in the present days in the district are functioning. It is only on the basis of necessity, if any, 25more centres may be opened in the coming days.

The deputy commissioner clarified that it is only to check irregularities, the number of applications issued per day is restricted.

Assistant general manager of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) K K Sharma said in case the cards are yet to reach the beneficiaries, e-Aadhaar cards could be availed from the website by entering the given ID number as acknowledgement. In case of any change in address, the  beneficiaries may update the address on the website with scanned copies of both aadhaar cards and relevant proof by pressing the button; update your Aadhaar. It can also be sent through post to the UIDAI office in Bangalore.

Sharma said, the office at Bangalore having its jurisdiction spread over Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry has already received 15,000 such updation requests with 6,000 from Karnataka alone.

On the query of re-enrollment of already enrolled people, but yet to get the benefit, Sharma said it is due to technical glitch the data collected remains locked; packet lock. In Mysore district alone, 1.8 lakh such cases are reported. He clarified that it is only on the request of re-enrollment, the people have to go for enrollment again, not all.

Sharma said, of the 5.4 lakh LPG customers, 3.4 lakh have given their aadhaar card numbers to the banks too. But, only 60,000 numbers have been mapped at the banks.
