Former chief minister Jagadish  Shettar has said that cricket betting was still rampant in the State, especially in Hubballi, Bengaluru and Belagavi.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Shettar said that the police were not even entertaining complaints, owing to their involvement in the racket.

“The CID, which is probing the matter has not submitted is report till now since several Congress leaders and politicians are involved in betting,” Shettar claimed.

He also attacked the government for effecting large-scale transfers in the Lokayukta rendering it toothless. Instead of considering Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao as a suspect, he was being considered as a witness, he said.

Shettar added that the second phase of BJP’s Raitha Chaitanya Yatra will be held from October 1 to 11.
