JD(S) leader H D Revanna on Tuesday accused the State government of “playing politics” while identifying drought-hit taluks.

Revanna told reporters here that the government had not included several constituencies represented by the JD(S) legislators in the drought-hit taluk list, despite the pockets getting deficient rainfall.

He said Ramanagar, Magadi, Channarayapatna, Turuvekere, Malur, Gubbi and Kadur had received below-average rainfall and yet the government had not declared these taluks as drought-hit. He urged Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad to visit these taluks, along with district in-charge ministers, for reality check.

Revanna said the government had faulted on its promise of providing three-phase power supply in rural areas for at least seven hours a day. Only two hours of three-phase supply was being provided and that too once in three days. He claimed that the government would hike power, milk, drinking water prices and bus fares immediately after the BBMP polls.
