<p>A gram panchayat member and his friend allegedly raped a home-alone woman and beat her at her house in Hunsur taluk late Monday night.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Around 11 pm on Monday, gram panchayat member Nazeer and his friend, Naga barged into the victim’s house in Kudineerumuddanahalli on the pretext of asking drinking water, police said.<br /><br /> The woman, whose husband died two months ago, was injured after the duo assaulted her for raising an alarm. She has been admitted to the Government Hospital here, police said.<br /><br />Hunsur Rural police are searching for Nazeer and his aide Naga, both of whom have fled the village.<br /></p>
