H1N1 claims teen's life

Sunanda Kandagal (16) of Talikoti town was admitted to Al Ameen Medical College Hospital with high fever. The doctors collected her throat swab and sent it to Bangalore for investigation. But, the patient died a day before the reports arrived confirming H1N1 infection.

There were totally nine suspected cases of H1N1 influenza admitted at the hospital. Of which, two, including Sunanda, were diagnosed H1N1 positive. The remaining seven patients were administered Tamiflu as a precautionary measure. No new cases were reported on Thursday.

Special ward

According to reliable sources from the district hospital, a special ward to treat suspected H1N1 patients has been set up in the Al Ameen Medical College Hospital, with necessary medical facilities including ventilator and oxygen cylinders.
