Hill station gears upfor Madikeri Dasara

State government releases ` 50 lakh, says CMC chief

The organisers have started repairing road on which Dashamantapa pass through. The Townhall and Gandhi Mantapa maidan will be given a new look. All measures will be taken to see that the tourists will not face any hardship during their visit to Madikeri during Dasara, said CMC President H M Nandakumar to Deccan Herald. “The state government has released Rs 50 lakh towards the celebration. Well known artistes will be invited to take part in Dasara.”

Road repair

With Madikeri receiving heavy rain in the last few days, all most all the roads in the CMC limits have been damaged. Measures will be taken to repair the roads. Karnataka State Road Development Corporation will take up the work on road from Sudarshan Circle to General Thimmaiah Circle. The work is likely to be started on Monday. The CMC wil repair the road from General Thimmaiah Circle to the CMC building. The work will commence from next week. The road at Mahadevapete has developed potholes which will be filled before Dasara. The College road is in deplorable condition, which will be repaired temporarily. After monsoon, the CMC is planning to concrete the College road, he added.

As Dasara cultural programmes will be held in Town Hall and Gandhi Mantapa Maidana, the CMC will take measures to decorate. Town hall will be repaired. A sum of Rs 4.5 lakh will be spent on tent at Gandhi Mantapa. The CMC has decided to observe Madikeri Dasara grandiosely, he added.

`1.75 lakh for Mantapa

The CMC President H M Nandakumar said that each mantapa which takes part in Dashamantapa procession during Dasara will be given a sum of Rs 1.75 lakh. Those Mantapa which reach the venue on time during procession will be given Rs 5,000. A sum of Rs 80,000 each will also be released for four Karagas which takes part in Madikeri Dasara procession.
