Houses of 3 officials raided

The Lokayukta police on Friday raided the residences and offices of three government officials across 13 places, unearthing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

H N Satyanarayana Rao, Additional Director General of Police, Lokayukta, said simultaneous raids were conducted in Belgaum, Bagalkot, Chamarajnagar and Tumkur districts.

Illegal assets to the tune of Rs 4.5 crore were unearthed, he said. Venkataramu, marketing assistant, Government Silk Factory, Chamarajnagar, was found to possess a staggering 218 per cent of assets disproportionate to his income.

He was found to possess nine sites at Chamarajnagar in his wife’s name, and several pieces of agricultural land and commercial sites at Chamarajnagar registered in the names of his two sons.

K B Nanjundaiah, junior engineer at Panchayat Raj engineering division, Gubbi town, Tumkur, had Rs 2.62 crore of disproportionate assets with two multi-storey houses in Tumkur. He also had seven life insurance policies.

Manohar Ramappa Vaddar, executive engineer, Public Work and Ports, Inland Water Transport Department, Bagalkot, had registered acres of property in Belgaum district worth Rs 1.02 crore in the name of his wife and brother.

He also had investments worth Rs 22 lakh in a stone-crushing business registered in the name of his brother.

Police have seized documents pertaining to the properties of all the officials.

Investigations are on.

Tainted

Venkataramu, marketing assistant, general manager, Government Silk Factory, Chamarajnagar, was found to possess disproportionate asset of Rs 2.62 crore.

 Manohar Ramappa Vaddar, Executive engineer, Public Works and Ports, Inland Water Transport Department, Bagalkot, was found to possess disproportionate asset of Rs 1.67 crore.

The disproportionate assets of K B Nanjundaiah, junior engineer, Panchayat Raj engineering division, Gubbi town, Gubbi taluk, Tumkur district were valued at Rs 75 lakh.
