The Committee members T P Ramesh, Kariappa, Somawarpet Taluk Panchayat President K M Lokesh Kumar, Zilla Panchayat Assistant Planning Officer Shabir Pasha, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Nagaraj and other officials inspected various development works undertaken at Chettalli, Nellihudikeri, Nanjarayapatna, Hebbale, Shirangala, Thorenoor and Alur Siddapura villages in Somwarpet taluk.

The Committee found that some gram panchayats did not take initiative to start development works satisfactorily.

Though there were several works to be taken up, gram panchayats took initiatives to take up works of few projects. In this backdrop, the committee suggested that all deserved families should be brought under the Scheme purview by registering them.

Member T P Ramesh recommended that all gram panchayats should put up notice boards carrying information on MGNREGS so that people will be aware of the benefits of the scheme. Since people in many villages are not aware of the benefits of the scheme, information should be passed on through notice boards and wall writings, he added.
Families with more than five members can form a Stree Shakti SHG and avail benefits of Swarna Jayanthi Rozgar Yojna. Officials should give special emphasis in this regard, he added.

Ramesh directed the Integrated Tribal Development Programme Officer to provide details regarding the implementation of development schemes for the tribals in the district.
