'Inquiry will bring out truth on denotification'

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that there was no scope for politics in the denotification issues as the State government ordered judicial inquiry into all denotifications, including Arkavathy Layout in Bangalore, from 2003 till date.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he said BJP leaders had been trying to use the denotification issue of Arkavathy Layout for political gains. But in reality, they are responsible for the denotification of land.

“When Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, 198.7 acres of land was denotified. During JD(S)-BJP coalition government, 156 acres were denotified. The then chief minister Jagadish Shettar had denotified 541 acres of land. A total of 973.33 acres of land was denotified during the BJP government.

The present government has no role in this. An inquiry will bring out the truth and some of them will get exposed. Therefore, they are afraid of judicial inquiry. If they are not at fault, they should face the probe,” he said.

Referring to the Arkavathy Layout issue, he said there was a contempt petition pending before the court. So, the government submitted a modified project for 1,763 acres to the court. There is nothing illegal in this regard. Following the opposition from BJP, the government has ordered judicial inquiry into all denotifications from 2003, he said.
