Invited Darshan in my personal capacity: UK MP

British Labour Party MP Virendra Sharma has clarified that he invited Kannada actor Darshan Thoogadeepa in his "personal capacity" to receive an honour in London.

Reacting to reports that Darshan has been invited by the British Parliament, the Ealing (Southall) MP said: "I would like to make it clear that the invitation was issued by me, in a personal capacity.''

"Many members of the local community and Kannada diaspora requested that I invite Mr Darshan Thoogadeepa to Parliament,'' he said in a mail to DH.

DH had reported on Wednesday that Darshan had been invited by the British Parliament for his "contribution to Karnataka's art and culture through his movies".
