Congress leader D K Shivakumar on Sunday charged the BJP and the JD(S) of having entered into a tacit understanding to defeat the Congress in Udupi-Chikmagalur byelection.

He further accused JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy of denotifying a BDA land , following a request from Sunil Kumar, the BJP candidate.

Addressing the media, Shivakumar alleged that Sunil Kumar, in 2007, had petitioned the then chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to denotify five acres of land.

The land was acquired by the BDA to form Jnanabharati Layout. Though D K Shivakumar released documents to support his allegations, he did not explain how Sunil Kumar stood to directly benefit from the denotification order.
