JD(S) district chief H H Devraj resigns

Last Updated 05 December 2012, 18:17 IST

H H Devraj resigned from the post of JD(S) district unit president, citing the internal conflict in the party as reason for his resignation.

Following the resignation, he announced of joining the KJP as he said the KJP is the only party which has the capacity to fight against communal parties.

Addressing media persons on Wednesday, he said that he would resign from the primary membership of the JD(S) soon and several office-bearers of the party too will resign from the JD(S) supporting him.

“I have undergone painful situations in the party many a times. I remained as a mute spectator for all the problems, for the sake of party leader Deve Gowda.

But I felt insulted badly when Party State President H D Kumaraswamy gave the responsibility of choosing office-bearers for the party in Chikmagalur constituency to advocate Bhojegowda. It was more insulting than ousting one from the party,” he said.

Stating that, such a treatment was acceptable, if he had committed an error or involved in misusing the power, he said the party high-command has given more power to former MLA S L Dharmegowda and Bhojegowda who have not contributed for the party.

“I had two options before me, either to retire from the active politics or joining another political party and I chose the second option. Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has spoken to me over phone and was happy about me joining his party.

I will formally join the party along with the supporters at the party convention that will be organised in the city in a near future,” said Devaraj.
