A heard of wild elephants, including four calves, were spotted at Kalgane village near here.
The elephants, spotted near Sullakki, Ibbadi and Konnur since Wednesday had destroyed crops at about two acres of land, including coffee, banana and coconut plantations at Kalgane village, where they were spotted on Saturday. Owing to this, farmers are in the fear of crop loss.

Forest department personnel, including assistant conservator of forest Chaudri and range forest officer Chengappa, have been guarding the region as residents of nearby villages fear attack by jumbos.
