<p> The logo of the Sammelana designed by Babu Markandeya was launched at a function on Tuesday. <br /><br />The logo has Goddess Bhuvaneshwari and Lord Mahaveera on the top, while decorative elephants sculpted in Belur temple mark its border. It also has Vidhana Soudha, an ancient temple from North Karnataka and a globe connected with wires, symbolising the State’s identity as an IT destination.<br /><br />Minister surprised<br /><br />Addressing the gathering after launching the logo Minister for Home and Transport R Ashoka said he was surprised that most of the books bought from him during his door-to-door Kannada book sale campaign were by non-Kannada speaking people. He suggested the organisers to hold the event at the National College Ground instead of Palace Ground, as it is quite far from the heart of the City. <br /><br />An ex-serviceman S Mallaiah donated Rs 1 lakh for the Kannada cause on the occasion.</p>
