<p>Bengaluru: Second pre-university students will pass their board exams if they score "not less than 33 per cent of the aggregate marks across all subjects taken together", the Department of School Education & Literacy has proposed.</p><p>At present, students have to score 35 per cent aggregate in order to pass. </p><p>Further, students have to obtain a minimum 30 per cent score in each subject to be deemed passed. </p><p>"Candidates shall be declared to have passed the PUC examination if they secure not less than 30 per cent of the total marks in each subject, including marks obtained in the written examination and internal assessment or practical examination," the department has stated in the draft Karnataka Pre-University Examination (Scheme of Evaluation) Rules, 2025. </p>.Teachers write to education dept to scrap 3-exam system for SSLC, PU.<p>The proposed rules will apply to all 2nd PU students appearing for the board examination from the 2025-26 academic year onwards. "...in deviation from the existing allotment of 30 marks for the practical examination, the practical exam shall be conducted for a maximum of 20 marks," the draft states. </p><p>The remaining 10 marks will be awarded to students if they have a minimum 75 per cent attendance in each subject, completed the minimum number of practicals specified for each practical subject, duly recorded and submitted the same in the practical record book duly, and appeared for the practical examination. </p><p>For subjects that do not have a practical exam or internal assessment, a student must score 24 out of 80 marks.
