Mobile check-up unit launched to check KFD

The health department officials in Udupi district on Thursday initiated a mobile health check-up unit to travel to Kollur, Byndoor, Shiroor, Halady, Bidkalkatte and surrounding areas to distribute medicines to people and to protect them from Kyasanur Forest Disease, according to a press release issued by health department officials.

The health department staff also will conduct awareness campaign in these villages. ASHA workers will assist the health department in this task of reaching out to the people to create awareness about Kyasanur Forest Disease, the press release stated.

Meanwhile, sufficient number of DMP oil is being supplied to Udupi district.

Taluk Health Office of Kundapura received 950 bottles of DMP oil (55ml each) which was sponsored by VSSN Bank, Siddapura and Sri Brahmi Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kamalashile.

MCVR Manipal team conducted ticks surveillance in selected areas of Shiroor, Golihole and Keradi on Wednesday.

There were no reports of admission of patients suspected to be suffering from KFD at Kasturba Hospital on Thursday. However, two people, including a French national, were discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
