Last Updated 17 February 2013, 19:27 IST

The kite festival organised jointly by City-based J H Patel College and MCC Youth Club stole the show at Kunduvada Lake in Davangere on Sunday.

Hundreds of schoolchildren, non-resident Indians and others participated in the festival. The serene Kunduvada Lake virtually turned into a children’s hub as they gathered in large numbers holding colourful kites of different shapes.

The people were in joyful mood to see unique kinds of kites namely ‘rocket kite,’ which was flown in the blue sky by Non-Resident Indian Eshwar, while Abhinav Bharathi School student Praveen and Thimmesh flew ‘ching kite’.

Children flew kites made out of newspapers, colour papers and plastic papers.
Though some students were successful in their efforts to fly the kites, some others failed due to poor wind and lack of kite flying skills.

The kite festival began in the morning and went on till afternoon. Parents and public were seen encouraging their children to fly kites.
