Komu Vedike protests violence in Gangolli

The Udupi district unit of Komu Sauharda Vedike staged a protest against the ongoing incessant violence in Gangolli demanding justice to innocent, here before Superintendent of Police Office.

Forwarding a memorandum to the Home Minister through the Superintendent of Police K Annamalai, Udupi district unit of Komu Sauharda Vedike secretary Prof Phaniraj alleged that the present deteriorating condition in Gangolli has led to the unsafe environment, disturbing the peace in the region. 

He demanded the government should immediately interfere and assure safety to the minorities in the region. 

He accused that the district in charge minister and Byndoor MLA are least concerned about the ongoing violence in Gangolli. The district in charge minister has failed to even pay a courtesy visit. 

Meanwhile the families belonging to the minority communities alleged police atrocity. A woman accused police of supporting the members of fundamental organisations, who are indulged in creating troubles. She said the girls who go to schools and colleges are stopped and harassed by the men belonging to majority communities. She alleged that men are falsely charged and are arrested. The police are harassing the innocent and are using foul language against the women.

Udupi district unit of Komu Sauharda Vedike president G Rajashekar alleged that the police released the real culprits responsible for the riot that took place on November 27, 2014. These culprits were released succumbing to the pressure by Hindutva organisations.  He said the police, justice and legal system in the State is rotten, he alleged.

SP Annamalai said  the situation is absolutely under control in Gangolli. As many as 31 people are arrested on charges of arson, disturbing public peace and violation of Section 144. He added the arrested are sent to the Bellary jail. Section 144 is cramped until January 25. He added that stringent action would be taken against those trying to disturb harmony in the region indulging in communal clashes.
