<p>Mangaluru: The first half of the City Corporation's general meeting, which was the last meeting of the current five-year term of the MCC, was marred by pandemonium following 'political' remarks hurled against each other by the ruling party and opposition members while the second half witnessed serious discussions.</p><p>As the meet began in Mangala auditorium on Thursday, opposition leader Anil Kumar said that the five-year term by the BJP ruled council was a failure. Irked by the same, BJP member Shakila Kava alleged that the opposition leader has been politicising the issue.</p><p>The opposition leader further alleged that UGD works in the MCC limits carried out with a fund of Rs 300 crore have not been successful. “The Jalasiri 24x7 water supply project taken up at a cost of Rs 797 crore has been implemented in a single ward of MCC. Following the same, the meeting was adjourned for some time.</p><p>Later when the meeting gathered again, the chaos continued as the opposition leader maintained that he will complete his speech while the ruling party members urged that he should speak only after the Mayor's speech and alleged that the opposition members have been deliberately creating confusion so that the meeting does not progress. They, meanwhile, asked what were the achievements of the Congress party during the previous term of MCC.</p><p>Opposition member Pravinchandra Alva alleged that not even a single house was alloted to poor people in MCC limits during BJP's tenure and the Smart City works have been a failure. He meanwhile asked what happened to the Netravati riverfront project.</p><p>When the council gathered after the lunch break, the Mayor thanked people, the members of the council and the officials during the completion of BJP term as the ruling party and also his role as the Mayor during his four-month long tenure.</p><p>Later, the members from both the ruling party and opposition thanked their colleagues and general public for their support.</p>
