MCC team bags STPL cup

The foundation for a healthy society depends on its youth force. A well-guided and suitably groomed youth force is necessary for the well-being of a society, said Manager of Venkateshwara Engineering College M Shashidhar.

He was speaking at the awards-giving ceremony to the winners of the STPL Cricket Tournament, organised by the Mohammad Star Cricket Club held at the Nehru stadium in Shidlaghatta on Saturday.

Along with grooming of their talent and abilities, combined with the right amount of effort and efficiency, youth can tread the paths of success very smoothly, without any hindrances, he said and added that the youth force required proper teachers or guides to show them the right path. It was also the responsibility of each one to ensure that the youths did not go astray.

The manager further said that the advent of modern life had paved way for several youths to cultivate bad habits. The youths must eschew bad habits and learn to live a life of austerity and dedication.

They should also learn to respect their elders and teachers and aim at leading a successful and clean life and should not compromise their ideals and principals for a fast and easy life, he said.

Healthy atmosphere

Shashidhar said various associations and organisations were involved in conducting several sports activities. This helped in creating a healthy and sportive atmosphere and also paved way for a competitive spirit among the sportspersons, he added.

The MCC team, which defeated the Rocking Riders team in the finals, has bagged the STPL cup and also received a purse of Rs 30,000 in cash. Leader of the MCC team Athiq received the first prize and a memento and leader of the Rocking Riders team Bharath received a purse carrying Rs 15,000 in cash for the second place and a memento.
