Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Mysuru as the usual political humbug.

Campaigning for the coalition candidate and son Nikhil at Palahalli, in Srirangapatna taluk on Wednesday, he targeted Modi saying, “No leader came when hundreds of farmers committed suicide. They have come
during the elections to deceive the people”.

Speaking about a section of the leaders working against him, Kumaraswamy said, “A few leaders of BJP and Congress have decided to finish me off. But I
believe you will not let me down”, he said.

Reacting to the criticisms that Nikhil is an outsider, the CM pointed out that Shobha Karandlaje is from Bengaluru, but is contesting from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru. Veerappa Moily is contesting from Chikkaballapur. But if Nikhil contests from Mandya, it is made a big issue.
The farmers should not give attention to all such matters.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy is concerned about the poor and that is the reason I have fielded him”, he said.

Conspiracy

The CM also criticised the disgruntled Congress leaders by saying, “A few conspired to defeat Ambareesh in Mandya and sent him home. The same leaders are now supporting his family this election. The people of Mandya are keenly observing the developments”, he said.

He also targeted the media saying the media houses have been involved in disgracing the JD(S) leaders. “Please don’t blame me if the party workers react strongly,” he said.

More than 50 Vishnuvardhan fans joined JD(S) in the presence of the CM and submitted a memorandum requesting a memorial for the late actor. Kumaraswamy assured of taking up the work after the Lok Sabha elections.

The Chief Minister will camp in Mandya for the next three days and will campaign for Nikhil. JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and Coalition Coordination Committee chairperson Siddaramaiah will conduct a joint campaign in the district on April 12.

The supporters felicitated the CM with a huge garland weighing 380 kg, including 220 kg raisins and 160 kg roses. The youths took out a motorbike rally, accompanied by hundreds of bullock carts, on the occasion.
